Lenten Season

Image
Lent is the 40-day period between Ash Wednesday and Easter Saturday (excluding Sundays). Lent is often described as a time of preparation and a chance to grow closer to God. This means it's a period of personal reflection that helps people prepare their hearts and minds for Good Friday and Easter. https://images.app.goo.gl/qhG6eo6NLErd2FhR8 The first day of Lent is Ash Wednesday. On this day, Catholic Filipinos will return from church with ash smudged in the shape of a cross on their foreheads. The ashes represent their sorrow for the mistakes they've made and the resulting separation of imperfect people from a perfect God. Many Christians also practice fasting, repentance, moderation, self-denial, and spiritual discipline during Lent.  Catholics are longing to return to communal worship as they enter the second Lenten season while still fighting the COVID pandemic, and they are doing so, albeit with careful restrictions and guidelines.
